We also provide dynamic physical fitness and self defence for men, women and children of all ages and abilities and will build co-ordination, improved balance, memory retention, and self-esteem.
Karate, literally “Empty Hand”, originated on the Ryukyu Islands (today, Okinawa) among the Pechin or scholarly class, where it was originally known as “te” or “hand“. It was influenced, over many years, by Chinese martial arts and became truly popular when it was introduced to Japan and after that, to the rest of the world.
Shotokan, after the pen-name of its founder, Gichin Funakoshi, today represents the largest style of karate in terms of number of practitioners.
At Karate Noosa – WSKF, we teach traditional Shotokan Karate-do as originally brought to Japan by Gichin Funakoshi Sensei and refined over the years by his students, who, in turn, taught those with whom Bryan Sensei trained and learnt karate-do.
We offer a variety of programs and classes, please use the menu to navigate to the appropriate section or click here for the class schedule or here for the program descriptions.
