Welcome to Karate Noosa – A member of the World Shotokan Karate Federation

Located in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia, Karate Noosa is a proud member of the World Shotokan Karate-do Federation (WSKF) and dedicated to building a better community, one Black Belt at a time. We empower our students with important values including courtesy, honesty, respect, patience, confidence, self esteem, positive attitude and an indomitable spirit.

Our professional team of instructors, under the guidance of Bryan Dukas Sensei (6th Dan), are fully trained and qualified and will deliver the most energetic, exciting and beneficial training for yourself and your family.

Our specially formulated classes are designed to cater for all ages from Kindy Karate at 4 to 5 years, our Kids Karate programs from 6 to 12 years, followed by our teenagers and adults classes. Adults train with adults and children train with children – for more information, please take a look at our class schedule.

We also provide dynamic physical fitness and self defence for men, women and children of all ages and abilities and will build co-ordination, improved balance, memory retention, and self-esteem.

Karate, literally “Empty Hand”, originated on the Ryukyu Islands (today, Okinawa) among the Pechin or scholarly class, where it was originally known as “te” or “hand“. It was influenced, over many years, by Chinese martial arts and became truly popular when it was introduced to Japan and after that, to the rest of the world.

Shotokan, after the pen-name of its founder, Gichin Funakoshi, today represents the largest style of karate in terms of number of practitioners.

At Karate Noosa – WSKF, we teach traditional Shotokan Karate-do as originally brought to Japan by Gichin Funakoshi Sensei and refined over the years by his students, who, in turn, taught those with whom Bryan Sensei trained and learnt karate-do.

We offer a variety of programs and classes, please use the menu to navigate to the appropriate section or click here for the class schedule or here for the program descriptions.
